On the morning of the 22nd at approximately 7:34 AM local time, a magnitude 3 earthquake was recorded in Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures, located in the northeastern part of Japan. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that there is no risk of a tsunami following this seismic event.
Iwate and Miyagi are two of the 47 prefectures in Japan, which are similar to states or regions in other countries. Both prefectures are part of the Tōhoku region, known for its seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
