In the early hours of the 13th, a heavy aluminum alloy cover, weighing more than 8 kilograms (approximately 17.6 pounds), was found alongside the tracks of the Tōkaidō Shinkansen in Kakegawa City, located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. This high-speed rail line is one of the busiest in the world, connecting Tokyo and Osaka.
JR Tokai, the company that operates the Tōkaidō Shinkansen, has announced that it will inspect all trains that use the same type of cover to ensure safety and determine the cause of this incident.
