Due to the influence of a weather front, Akita Prefecture has experienced record-breaking rainfall. Additionally, areas from southern Tohoku (a region in Japan that includes Yamagata and Niigata) to the Hokuriku region are seeing intense rain as developed rain clouds move in.
In Yamagata and Niigata Prefectures, there is a significant risk of a linearly aligned rainfall phenomenon, known as a ‘linear precipitation zone’, occurring in the next few hours. This could lead to a rapid increase in the risk of disasters.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant against potential landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and river overflows.
