On the afternoon of the 21st, Satsumasendai City, located in Kagoshima Prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu, Japan, issued evacuation orders for all its residents. This affects a total of 46,274 households and approximately 89,472 people. The evacuation order was prompted by heightened risks of landslides in the area, which can occur due to heavy rainfall or unstable ground conditions.
The order falls under the “Level 4” warning on Japan’s five-tier alert system, which advises residents to evacuate from dangerous areas to ensure their safety.
