According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the Oyama City area in Tochigi Prefecture, located in the Kanto region of Japan, experienced an extraordinary downpour. Radar analysis indicated that approximately 110 millimeters (about 4.3 inches) of rain fell within just one hour, leading to heightened concerns about potential disasters.
In response to the imminent threat of flooding and other hazards, the JMA has issued a “record short-duration heavy rain information” alert. This warning urges residents to take precautions and ensure their safety as conditions may worsen.
