Tokyo – Rakuten Group has announced the launch of “Rakuten Lifestyle Support Rice,” which will be available for purchase starting the afternoon of May 29. This government-purchased, emergency stockpiled rice will be sold in 5-kilogram packages priced at ¥1,980 (excluding tax).
The rice will be available through three official Rakuten channels:
– Rakuten 24
– Rakuten Gourmet
– Rakuten Mart (Online Supermarket)
Sales on Rakuten 24 and Rakuten Gourmet will begin in the afternoon of May 29 via a dedicated special page, and free shipping will be included. For Rakuten Mart, sales will commence as soon as inventory arrives. Additionally, orders exceeding ¥3,500 (including other items) will qualify for free shipping.
Due to limited stock, sales and pre-orders may be temporarily paused once the maximum limit is reached, but they will resume as new inventory becomes available.
This initiative underscores Rakuten’s commitment to providing households with affordable staple food options during uncertain times.
