Saitama, Japan – June 9, 2025:
Police in Saitama Prefecture have arrested four men—two Indian nationals and two Nepalese nationals—on suspicion of committing robbery resulting in injury after they allegedly assaulted a business owner while attempting to steal a substantial amount of cash.
Among those arrested is Aman Sharma, a 31-year-old Indian national residing in Yūki City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Authorities report that the group targeted a 52-year-old president of a staffing company as he was walking along a street in Yoshikawa City on March 14, around 3:20 p.m.
According to investigators, the suspects smeared a spice-like substance on the victim’s face, which injured his eyes, before trying to steal a bag containing approximately ¥7.8 million in cash (about $50,000 USD). The victim was reportedly on his way to deliver wages to staff working at a local job site.
Sharma had worked for the victim’s company since October 2024, and police suspect that the group had planned the attack in advance. The four men were taken into custody on June 9, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
The Saitama Prefectural Police have not yet released details about the suspects’ admissions or denials of the charges.
