Third Disclosure of Documents Related to Moritomo Gakuen Case Raises Questions

The case surrounding Moritomo Gakuen, a controversial private school in Japan, continues to unfold as the Ministry of Finance has disclosed a third batch of documents related to the scandal. This disclosure is particularly significant as it involves the records of a former employee of the Kinki Regional Taxation Bureau, who tragically took his own life after being implicated in the alteration of official documents.

The newly released documents, totaling approximately 18,000 pages, include notes that were kept by ministry staff as ‘drafts’ or ‘handwritten notes.’ The focus of this latest release is whether these documents will shed light on new facts that contributed to the document tampering scandal.

The Moritomo Gakuen case has raised serious concerns about governmental transparency and accountability in Japan, leading to widespread public scrutiny and calls for reform.
