A coach from the baseball team at Hiroshima Koryo High School, located in Hiroshima City, has been suspended for three months by the Japan Student Baseball Association. This decision follows an incident involving inappropriate coaching methods, where the coach was reported to have forced a student to sit in a traditional Japanese posture known as ‘seiza,’ which involves sitting on one’s legs with the tops of the feet flat on the floor.
The suspension comes after the school withdrew from the summer national high school baseball tournament, a significant event in Japan, due to issues related to violence within the team. The coach, who was 52 years old at the time of the incident, faced scrutiny for his actions, which are considered unacceptable in the context of student sports.
