In the early hours of September 25, at approximately 1:44 AM local time, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake was recorded in Japan, affecting the Fukui and Gifu prefectures. The tremor reached a seismic intensity of 3, which is considered moderate and can be felt indoors but usually does not cause significant damage.
The areas in Fukui Prefecture that experienced this intensity include:
- Echizen City
- Ikeda Town
- Minami-Echizen Town
- Echizen Town
In Gifu Prefecture, the town of Ibigawa was also affected. Additionally, a lower intensity of 2 was felt in various locations across Fukui, Gifu, and Ishikawa Prefectures. An even milder intensity of 1 was recorded over a wider area, including parts of Aichi and Shiga Prefectures.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located in the northern region of Fukui Prefecture, at a depth of 10 kilometers (approximately 6.2 miles). Fortunately, there is no tsunami risk associated with this earthquake.
