Dangerous Heat Expected to Continue in Kanto Inland Areas

On August 2, temperatures soared across Japan, particularly in the Tohoku region (northeastern Japan) to Kyushu (the southernmost of the country’s four main islands). In Saitama Prefecture, located just north of Tokyo, temperatures approached a dangerous 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).

Forecasts indicate that the inland areas of the Kanto region, which includes Tokyo and its surrounding prefectures, will experience similarly extreme heat on August 3. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and implement measures to prevent heatstroke, a serious health risk during such high temperatures.
