On April 24, while traveling through Saitama Prefecture, located just north of Tokyo, the Tohoku Shinkansen, Japan’s high-speed train line, experienced an automatic activation of its emergency brakes. This incident led to an emergency stop and temporarily halted operations, resulting in widespread schedule disruptions throughout the day.
According to East Japan Railway Company (JR East), the emergency brakes were triggered due to the detection of a potential fault in the train’s system. The company is currently investigating the underlying cause of this malfunction.
