Fukuoka, Japan – Fukuoka Prefectural Police announced on June 3 that they have arrested 11 individuals, both men and women, of Vietnamese and Nepalese nationality. Among those arrested is a 23-year-old factory worker residing in Tachiarai Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, who is suspected of involvement in robbery and related charges.
According to police reports, the group is accused of assaulting a Vietnamese man on a street in Saga City this past April. They allegedly punched the victim in the face and threatened him, saying, “If you don’t hand over the money, I’ll k*i*ll you,” before extorting 85,000 yen in cash and other valuables.
In a separate incident, the suspects reportedly confronted another Vietnamese man, an acquaintance of the initial victim, in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture. They extorted approximately 935,000 yen in local currency from him under coercive circumstances.
Authorities have not disclosed whether the suspects have admitted to the charges. Police suggest that these incidents may be connected to a financial dispute related to a business the suspects and victims were involved in while in Vietnam.
