A recent survey conducted by NHK, Japan’s national public broadcasting organization, has revealed varying opinions among members of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) regarding the necessity of a special presidential election. Approximately 100 lawmakers support the idea of holding such an election, while over 50 believe it is unnecessary.
Additionally, around 140 members have not yet taken a definitive stance on the issue, with some opting to keep their opinions private. This uncertainty among a significant number of lawmakers could ultimately influence the outcome of any decision regarding a special election.
